Peacocks have rich folklore and symbolism across many cultures, mostly tied to beauty, pride, protection, and immortality.

In Greek Mythology, the “eyes” on peacock feathers came from Argus, the hundred-eyed giant. Hera (queen of the gods) placed Argus' eyes on the feathers after his death.

In early Christianity, it was believed that their flesh did not decay, and therefore became a symbol of resurrection and eternal life.

These tiles are inspired by medieval method of inlaying white slip into terracotta and scraping back to revel the image.

They are glazed with a lead free transparent glaze and can be grouted in as a functional tile or framed and hung on a wall.
